The nominations for the 2006 Bloggies have been announced. While I’m disappointed that only one of my favourite blogs are amongst them, it is a very good blog. Duncan at Ben Cruachan Blog writes a blog that gives me South Envy everytime I visit. His walks amongst the wildlife in Victoria Australia will leave you wanting to visit and share in his appreciation of the varied bird life that shares his world. Chances are, if you are a regular visiter here you are well familiar with his wonderful blog.
He’s been nominated for the Best Australian/New Zealand Blog and I’d encourage you to head over to the 2006 Bloggies site and vote for him. It is a well deserved nomination.

Thanks Clare, blush!
Done. I was a little disappointed in the finalists for the Bloggies but found a few I liked, including Ben Cruachan.
Yes, Duncan’s blog is one of the few finalists that really spin my wheels. Given the number of excellent, fascinating blogs around (like yours, Clare), I did find some of the results, …er,… surprising. I’ll certainly vote for Duncan’s blog, although I do have some concerns about this and similar competitions. There’s a good discussion of the issues on the Dharma Bums site: (http://newdharmabums.blogspot.com/2006/01/koufax-and-eagle.html)
I too was disappointed with most of the nominations, but I tried to reconcile that by acknowledging that not everyone’s tastes match mine. My corner of blogosphere has been carved out because of my tastes and that is fine.
I’ve followed the discussion over at the Dharma Bums and will probably leave my two cents worth there later. I don’t really have a problem with the web awards, but by the same token, I don’t really put a lot of stock in them either. I nominated a lot of my favourites for Bloggies, because I think they deserve some recognition and the wider audience that this exposure might bring.
I’d never heard of this contest, but went through the list and frankly Bens blog is the only blog I found worthy of voting for.. the rest seem to be trolling for votes/nominations,which I find quite odd.
Thanks for the link!
