Or at least I think I am. I’ve made up my mind that I’m going to Vimy for the 90th anniversary. The person I had found to do the cooking while I was away backed out, which is alright I suppose, we couldn’t come to an agreement about what would be fair compensation for the two weeks I’d be away. But if I can’t find anyone else then the House will become a true Bed and BREAKFAST for a couple of weeks. Hopefully I won’t lose any clients but this is an opportunity I don’t want to miss. Now provided my passport application goes off without a hitch…
I wonder if there is still time to get a kilt?

Good for you Clare! My younger brother was a restuaranteur for four or five years. My dad owned his own construction firm and still owns a few apartment buildings in his B.C.; despite being “retired”. The hours that the independent business man does are precisely why I joined the (un)civil service. Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for my school, I am a workoholic like the rest of my family.
As for the kilt, how long do you have until you leave? It is sad to say but I have no knowledge of Vimy’s precise date – although I do know its significance. My first degree was history, but cultural and intellectual history, not war history.
Hi Gary,
There is no nobler service than the public service. I’m going to make a short post on a bit of the history of Vimy so look for the answer there. Its been four years since I’ve been south and seen my family, I can’t wait.
