We finally installed the last of the in floor heating pipe this morning, and with the exception of about 30 square feet the last of the sub-floor. I for one am happy to see the end of blue pipe, however I must admit that by the end we had the system worked out pretty good.
The last room to do was the office, and by the time all of the feeder pipe for the Great Room, Dining Room and Front Entrance went through there was only room for about 70 feet of pipe. I laid that pipe this morning by myself and although that took almost no time, I spent the rest of the day getting the sub-floor in, or rather part of the subfloor.
With its myriad of small guiding blocks and supply and return pipes
,
it was a nightmare trying to nail the subfloor in place. No room for error here, as one stray nail would mean ripping up the floor, not just in the office but which ever room the damaged pipe would be for.
This system has eaten up many manhours, but I believe the end result will be worth the effort, warm, efficient radiant heat. I think now I could buy a van and install HeatLink pipe down south for a living.
On the down side of things, the crate containing our interior doors and bi-fold closet doors leaked, despite being tarped. All of the doors have been water damaged, to a minimum of being stained, and we have probably lost at least three.
